Collins Bus Corporation announced that it is recalling about 600 of its school bus models after filing NHTSA recall campaigns to fix metal hydraulic service brake lines and to tighten body mount bolts.
Collins said 282 units of its Collins Bus, Corbeil and Mid Bus makes were manufactured with hydraulic service brake lines feeding the RH rear service brake assembly that may interfere with the body mount assembly. Collins added that the location of the interference is at the first body mount location, directly ahead of the rear axle on the inboard side of the passenger side frame rail. This could cause a rupture in the brake line, which could lead to loss of brake fluid and brake failure.
The affected models are the DE, DH, SH and SL for all three makes, and the buses were manufactured from March 12 through July 13 of this year.
Collins is also recalling 317 of the same bus makes and models manufactured between March 12 and July 16 of this year because of body mount bolts that may have not been torqued to specification. This can lead to a reduction in the vehicle’s integrity.
Collins is notifying owners of both recalls that dealers with make all repairs free of charge.
