Thomas Built Buses announced that Accuride Wheels, a manufacturer of steel and forged wheels for heavy- and medium-duty buses and trucks, is the school bus OEM’s 2012 Supplier of the Year.
Accuride representatives accepted the award from Kelley Platt, president and CEO of Thomas Built, during a two-day event in September. Thomas’ parent company, Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA), said more than 200 representatives of the OEM’s 100 largest suppliers attended the annual supplier event held in Greensboro, N.C.
Accuride has been a supplier to Thomas for the past decade. Meanwhile, Bergaflex of Holly, Mich., was named Most Improved Supplier. Bergaflex is a global provider of hose and tube assemblies. DTNA stated that numerous other Gold and Silver awards were announced as well.
“This event offers an opportunity to express our appreciation for the invaluable contributions of our suppliers, as well as a forum for discussing the challenges we face together in the coming year,” said Platt. “Fostering an open dialogue at events like this helps us to provide the best quality product and deliver maximum value for our customers as well as ensure our mutual success.
