Thomas Built Buses to Ramp Up Production Levels

Thomas Built Buses President Kelley Platt said the new year will see a recall of 125 manufacturing workers as production is set to increase in response to “strong customer interest” in the company’s Saf-T-Liner C2 models.

The plans were shared with employees at the High Point, N.C., plant on Dec. 5. The employee recall will begin on Jan. 9.

“We are extremely pleased to be in a position to ramp up production and announce these hiring plans, ” said Platt in a statement. “School districts are looking for quality, reliability, and economy and they’re finding Thomas Built buses offer the best value available in the market.”

Additionally, the company unveiled its redesigned, front-engine EFX transit-style school bus in October and announced plans to go into production with a new Type A propane-powered bus by mid-2012.
