Webasto Unveils New Timer at NAPT for Automatic Engine Preheating

Webasto Thermo & Comfort North America released its new SmarTemp Control fx Timer at the recently concluded NAPT Summit trade show in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Show attendees had the opportunity to explore the features and functionality of the new timer that is designed to work exclusively with Webasto’s engine pre-heaters and simplify programming for repeat heating duration times.

The new SmarTemp Control fx Timer gives fleet managers more flexibililty and control over daily engine pre-heating by allowing up to four different timer settings per day. Its LCD screen displays both week-at-a-glance and month-at-a-glance settings, and it saves timer settings indefinitely until they have to be changed.

“The Webasto SmarTemp Control fx Timer is a smart solution for programming engine pre-heat for fleets. Using this device with a Webasto heater and (having an) effective idle-reduction strategy can save fleets thousands of dollars per year,” said Mark Hickey, vice president of business development at Webasto. “The fleet will also benefit from reduced maintenance costs … and reduced emissions.”

The new timer helps school bus operations that are working to reduce their bus emissions in order to comply with anti-idling regulations. Webasto’s fuel-operated heaters eliminate the need to idle for engine pre-heat, which leads to fuel savings, reduced engine wear, and reduced emissions during cold start.
