Zonar Names McKerlich New Chief Strategy Officer

Zonar Systems named Ian McKerlich its new chief strategy officer to drive the company’s telematics and fleet management solutions as well as product delivery, the Seattle-based company announced.

McKerlich served as a strategy advisor for several area CEOs over the past four years before joining Zonar in September. Prior to that, he was an advisor and vice president of products for RootMetcis, a global leader in mobile network performance measurement and rankings, and vice president of product management for T-Mobile.

He has an MBA from Harvard and an electrical engineering degree from the University of British Columbia.

“Zonar is in a mode of hyper-growth. Ian’s wealth of expertise in mobile, product and business strategy is exactly what we need to help drive our company to the next level,” said Brett Brinton, co-founder and CEO of Zonar Systems. “Ian is a technology visionary, but understands the importance of meaningful, impactful innovation. Ian is the perfect fit to apply innovation to catalyze what our customers are able to achieve with Zonar technology.”

McKerlich said he’s excited to be a part of Zonar’s next phase of growth.

“Since before the term Internet of things was invented, the Zonar team has been combining technology and mobility to create connected intelligence solutions to help transportation companies operate more safely and efficiently – making our roads safer and helping Zonar customers save time and money,” he explained.

Earlier this year, Zonar opened the second-largest data house in Seattle.
