Zonar Systems Announces Latest $50,000 School Bus Technology Grant

NAPT and Zonar Systems are again partnering to offering a $50,000 grant to a school district transportation department for implementing “state-of-the art, best practice, fleet management technology.”

“We recognize the difficulty that local school systems encounter in their efforts to acquire and implement leading edge technology systems, especially in the current economic climate,” said NAPT Executive Director Mike Martin of the third annual award. “This grant will not only help a school system save real dollars, it can lead to real improvements in student safety.”

To be eligible, the transportation department must be lead by a transportation director or supervisor who is also a member of NAPT. More information on the grant is available online.

The grant includes $50,000 worth of Zonar’s patented Electronic Vehicle Inspection Reporting (EVIR) system, including asset and zone tags to verify the completion of pre-trip, post-trip, child check and security sweep inspections. Also included are Zonar’s V2J High-Definition GPS system, V2J High-Definition GPS/vehicle diagnostics and the ZPass student ridership tracking system.

The grant does not cover the monthly service fee required to transmit the real-time data and additional charges for hosting of all inspection, GPS, vehicle diagnostics and student tracking data. Unlimited access to the Web-based application Ground Traffic Control for accessing GPS and inspection reports and 24/7 telephone and online support are also not included in the grant.

Interested parties can email Zonar for details on the monthly fees necessary for the selected equipment.
