Zonar Systems announced it will extend its annual technology grant program to private school bus companies at the National School Transportation Association’s 2012 Midwinter Meeting in Maui, Hawaii.
NSTA said the $50,000 grant award will be used toward purchasing fleet management and tracking hardware such as Zonar’s Electronic Vehicle Inspection Reporting, GPS, Real Time Engine Diagnostic reporting (J3) and Ground Traffic Control (GTC).
To be eligible for the grant, school bus contractors must be a current NSTA member at the time the application is submitted by no later than Dec. 29. Applications will be considered that include matching funds to expand the program beyond the limit of this grant.
NSTA said applicants also must document their ability to pay for on-going monthly service fees that includes all costs for the cellular transmission of the real-time data, hosting of all inspection and GPS data, unlimited access to the web-based application Ground Traffic Control™ for accessing GPS and inspection reports, and 24/7 telephone and online support. Zonar’s monthly service fee GPS and Electronic Vehicle Inspection Report (EVIR) is $23 per month per vehicle.
Complete eligibility requirements and information on the grant is available on NSTA’s website.
Last month, Zonar extended a similar technology grant program awarded for the past couple of years at the NAPT Summit to include eight public school district recipients instead of just one.
