Newsday posted an article on Oct. 24, which lists the top workplaces in Long Island, New York, for 2018.
The Exton, Pennsylvania, research firm, Energage, posted a survey that was the basis for the rankings list. The survey found that an engaging workplace culture is the best motivator for employees. The pool surveyed more than 24,000 employees with questions that ranged from pay and benefits, to leadership and culture. Newsday and Energage together selected 74 finalists.
The list ranks the companies by their score on worker engagement, and companies were then listed in categories of either large, midsize or small.
Out of the 116 companies that participated in the anonymous survey, 74 were ranked as the top Long Island workplaces. Suffolk Transportation Service/Suffolk Bus Corp. was ranked third in the report for large companies, following Bethpage Federal Credit Union and Signature Premier Properties.
Suffolk Transportation Service was founded in 1953, with headquarters in Bay Shore, N.Y. According to the Newsday article, STS currently has 2,577 employees and eight different locations. STS transports almost 60 percent of the 2.7 million children riding a school bus in New York each day, officials said.
A Newsday spotlight on Suffolk said, the workers feel like family, and pay $20-$26 per hour, with benefits.
