One of 10 schools is anxiously awaiting to here if they will receive a new IC Bus CE Hybrid, as voting closed last week.
The folks running the America’s Greenest School competition sponsored by IC Bus were tallying the votes to name this year’s winner of an essay contest, or the top “greenius” who best explained how his or her school was committed to conservation. The essays were written or produced in video format. An announcement is expected by Earth Day, April 22. The winning submissions receives $3,000 for the student author individually or multiple students to split evenly plus $500 from IC Bus to be used towards classroom supplies.
The biggie for the transportation department, or course, is an IC Bus™ CE Series hybrid electric bus (approximate retail value of $150,000). The winning school also wins a LEED certified “green” school audit and environmental upgrade (approximate retail value of $20,000), as well as a free concert by The Maine, the official band of America’s Greenest School.
If you haven’t already done so, you can meet the 10 finalists from across the country and view their entries.
