Apollo Video Technology Launches RoadRunner HD™ at APTA 2014

HOUSTON – Apollo Video Technology (Apollo Video) announced availability of the RoadRunner HD™ mobile video recorder at the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) 2014 EXPO. Designed for all vehicle types, including public transit and rail, the RoadRunner HD™ is the most technologically advanced Apollo Video system yet – a robust, user-friendly surveillance solution delivering high definition video in harsh mobile environments.

The RoadRunner HD™ is offered in several compatible and interchangeable formats for recording up to 16 channels of High Definition Internet Protocol or analog cameras with audio. It is equipped with all of the features of an IP system, but in an easily accessible plug-and-play format that allows simple installation and programming with no networking expertise. Intended specifically for use in mass transit and rail applications, the RoadRunner HD™ offers up to 4.0 terabytes of removable storage and maintains months of onboard recording of the highest video quality to alleviate the risks and liabilities facing agencies.

“Security systems play a critical role in the improvement and enhancement of public safety. Transit agencies increasingly appreciate the benefits that a superior security system can provide in tackling a multitude of operational requests, including high quality imagery and long-term storage,” said Rodell Notbohm, CEO of Apollo Video Technology. “These advancements in mobile video technology will ensure transit systems build a comprehensive and customized fleet-wide management system to improve fleet efficiency, increase accessibility of data and reduce maintenance and operating costs.”

RoadRunner HD™ is backward compatible with existing RoadRunner systems and ViM (Vehicle Information Management™) Software, thus reducing maintenance and operating costs while providing seamless fleet integration.

“C-TRAN is one of hundreds of transit agencies across the country that rely on Apollo Video’s RoadRunner system to increase safety and security for its passengers and staff, and successfully monitor and manage its fleet,” said Bob Medcraft, field operations manager for Clark County (Vancouver, Wash.) Public Transit Benefit Area Authority (C-TRAN). “The availability of an HD system not only furthers these goals by offering higher quality video and greater storage capabilities, but it also demonstrates Apollo Video’s commitment to innovation, always providing the most advanced technology solutions available to its customers and the industry as a whole.”

APTA’s Annual Meeting and EXPO is the public transportation industry’s premier event, including general sessions and forums focused on current issues facing public transportation and featuring first-rate professional speakers, as well as an exhibition. Apollo Video executives, product developers and sales staff will be on-site (booth #2829) illustrating the full capabilities of the innovative software and demonstrating real-time operations.
