New Rotary Lift MOD35 Inground Bus Lift and Adapters Debut at APTA Expo

HOUSTON – Rotary Lift has updated its patented universal style lifting saddles and is introducing a variety of lift adapter packages for use with its new MOD35 modular heavy-duty inground lift series, debuting today at the APTA Expo. There are four universal saddles to choose from, each now with best-in-class 35,000 lbs. lifting capacity.

“As bus manufacturers make their vehicles more comfortable for drivers and passengers, they also may make them more challenging to lift and service,” explains Paul Lee, Rotary Lift heavy-duty product support and field service specialist. “Buses that are lower to the ground are easier for passengers to enter, but harder for technicians and lifts to slide under. Buses with air brakes and sway bar controls provide a better ride for passengers, but the additional equipment can add weight and block access to traditional lifting points. That’s why Rotary Lift has spent years developing not only the new MOD35 lift series, but all the saddles and lift adapters that make it possible to efficiently use the MOD35 for virtually any heavy-duty lifting application.

MOD35 is the next generation of Rotary Lift’s MOD30 modular, environmentally friendly heavy-duty inground lift, the best-selling lift in its class. More than 1,100 MOD30 lifts have been installed since the product’s introduction at APTA Expo 2002. Rotary Lift’s patented universal saddles are widely used on MOD Series, EFX60 inground scissor and traditional inground lift installations worldwide.

The modular design of the new MOD35 inground lift enables it to be customized for any location. The wide array of available saddles and adapters enable transit agencies to equip the lift for virtually any lifting application.

Customers can choose from four patented saddles:

  • Ultra-low-profile: With the lowest profile in the industry at just 2½ inches tall, this saddle offers excellent drive-over clearance and can be retracted completely into the ground for zero obstructions when not in use. Use with low-profile inserts to pick up low-floor and kneeling buses.
  • Low-profile: For many customers, this “standard” front saddle is ideal for most jobs. It’s 4⅛ inches tall, with a maximum reach of 40¾ inches, thanks to two sliding adapters.
  • Low truck front (T-style): This 4¾-inch tall saddle offers the widest reach, at 561/16 inches, to facilitate picking up vehicles that don’t have a solid front axle.
  • Tall rear: Designed specifically for the rear post, this saddle features six insert receptacles (all of the front saddles can accommodate two inserts each) that slide left and right to provide an incomparable pick-up range, as well as the flexibility to reach into areas that other adapters can’t access.

All Rotary Lift universal saddles offer a greater adjustment range than any other, making lift set-up faster and easier for technicians. Every saddle and most adapters are electrocoated to provide a long-lasting, automotive-quality finish. Rotary Lift offers the industry’s widest selection of third-party certified lightweight adapters for maximum flexibility and versatility. Unlike other designs, most of Rotary Lift’s adapter inserts swivel a full 360 degrees for unmatched adjustability.

Rotary Lift has created several kits that include the most popular adapters for specific applications. Transit fleet managers can also consult the company’s Adapter Selection Guide and work with their local lift distributors to determine the best adapters for their specific needs.

The new MOD35 series of environmentally friendly inground lifts includes all the features customers love about MOD30 plus enhancements to provide even greater durability, cost-effectiveness and service bay productivity. MOD35 is available with two (MOD235) or three (MOD335) multi-stage hydraulic cylinders to provide lifting capacity of 70,000 to 105,000 lbs. Unlike other inground lifts that require floor-mounted consoles, the MOD35 is operated by simple, patent-pending pendant-only controls that can be used at ground level and attached to an optional cord reel. The MOD35’s compact electrical console can be wall-mounted up to 200 feet away from the lift. As a result, facilities gain about five square feet of additional floor space, providing technicians with more room to work around the vehicle.

Like MOD30, the MOD35 is totally contained in a six-foot-deep steel enclosure that has been sealed inside and out with Rotary Lift’s exclusive EnviroGuard coating. The enclosure is warranted against corrosion and electrolysis for 10 years. A patent-pending new installation method means the MOD35 series can be installed more quickly and at a much lower cost than other heavy-duty inground lifts.

The Rotary Lift MOD35 modular heavy-duty inground lift series is #RaisedinMadison and made in the USA. MOD35 models MOD235 and MOD335 have been third-party tested and ALI certified to meet the ANSI/ALI ALCTV 2011 safety and performance standard.
