Highway Loss Data Institute Board of Directors Appoints New Chair

ARLINGTON, Va. — The Highway Loss Data Institute announced the election of Andrew Woods as chair of its board of directors on Jan. 6. Woods is VP of personal lines R&D at The Travelers Companies, Inc.

Woods has succeeded Anthony E. Ptasznik, VP and chief actuary of the Auto Club Group, who will remain a member of the board.

“HLDI’s analyses of insurance data advance the safety conversation while also helping our industry respond to loss trends,” Woods says. “I look forward to working with my colleagues on the board to support this important work.”

“We’re delighted to welcome Drew as Board chair,” sayid David Harkey, president of IIHS and HLDI. “We’ll look to him for guidance as HLDI continues to enhance its work with new sources of data and methods of analysis.”

The new vice chair of the board is Katherine Ores Walsh, VP of pricing and product analysis at USAA.
