“The Rookie,” “Homicide Hunter” Keynote 23rd Annual School Bus EXPO

RENO, Nev. — Approximately 1,300 public- and private-sector school bus professionals will descend upon the Grand Sierra Resort for the 23rd Annual School Bus EXPO presented by School Transportation News and its parent company, STN Media Group, from July 23-27, 2016.

Blue Bird, along with partners Hendrickson and ROUSH CleanTech, presents keynote speaker Jim “The Rookie” Morris on July 25 at 5 p.m. Morris will present on how a simple promise can change your life and the lives of others. He was a small-town high school baseball coach in Texas who vowed to his players that he’d try out for a Major League Baseball team if they won the district championship. They did, and Morris eventually became a professional ballplayer with the Tampa Bay Rays. His story was the basis for the 2002 film starring Dennis Quaid.

School Transportation News will present Lt. Joe Kenda, host of Investigation Discovery’s “Homicide Hunter,” on July 25 at 8 a.m. A former school bus driver, Kenda will speak not only about his 25-year career in law enforcement and his unprecedented success rate of closing 92 percent of the homicide cases he investigated, but also about his experience transporting special needs students and the effect it had on his life.
