Thomas Built Buses Announce New Tire Pressure Monitoring Technology

RICHMOND, Va. – Nov. 10, 2015 – Thomas Built Buses, along with Valor and Pana-Pacific, have announced a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) as part of the new BusWiseTM suite of technologies. This will be a factory-installed option available for all new orders of the Saf-T-Liner C2 ® starting on November 11, 2015.

Through a sensor on each wheel, the new TPMS will monitor air pressure and temperature inside the tire and wirelessly send real-time data on each tire to a display within the bus.

“Unlike other TPMS systems, the Valor system will check both air pressure and temperature,” explains Tracy Mack-Askew, vice president of engineering for Thomas Built Buses. “The Valor TPMS system will provide real-time data to the driver along with immediate warnings for high or low pressures as well as air leakage and high temperatures. The data can also be available to fleet managers 24/7. This will allow fleet managers to analyze tire data and make more efficient fleet management and maintenance decisions.”

The system utilizes internally-installed sensors that are safe, secure and extremely reliable, and each sensor is powered by a long-lasting battery. “Valor TPMS is extremely reliable,” explains Mike Kutzscher of Valor. “The single thing that makes Valor stand out against competitive products is the signal strength of our sensors. Even in the toughest conditions, you can always rely on Valor TPMS sensors to give you real-time tire pressure and temperature data.”
