ATS, Blogger Partner for Parody Safety Video

American Traffic Solutions (ATS) partnered with blogger and YouTuber Deva Dalporto to create a video bringing awareness to the issue of illegal passing. The video features a song “Bus, Don’t Move,” which parodies Young MC’s hit “Bust A Move.”

“In this city drivers are crazy/Don’t look both ways because they’re lazy/Don’t pay attention to what’s in their way/Try to make a move when the sign says, no way/School bus, don’t pass it. School bus, baby don’t pass it,” Dalporto sings.

According to the National Association of State Directors of Pupil Transportation Services, over 97,000 bus drivers reported that 75,966 drivers illegally passed their stopped school buses on a single day in 2014, which can add up to 13 million over the course of a 180-day school year.

“The message of “Bus, Don’t Move” is crystal clear,” said ATS president and COO David Roberts. “Every time a driver flies past a school bus that is stopped for children, a child is put at risk of injury or death. We encourage everyone to watch the video and share it with friends.”

According to Charles Territo, senior vice president of communications, marketing and public affairs, the company decided to partner with Dalporto because of her engaging and catchy YouTube videos, which frequently go viral. Some of her musical parodies have garnered millions of hits.

“Deva’s videos are fun, catchy and watched by literally millions of people. I reached out to her through a mutual friend and shared our goal of using her influence to help increasing awareness about stop arm running. As a mother herself she enthusiastically agreed it was a great idea,” said Territo. “We shared information about the problem and she took it from there. Deva is a talented artist.”
