STN EXPO: Child Passenger Safety Restraints on School Buses

Whether or not equipping school buses with seat belts remains a hot topic affecting the industry, properly securing preschool-aged students in the school buses in age- and weight-appropriate Child Safety Restraint Systems (CSRS) is a crucial aspect of student transportation. Enter the eight-hour, hands-on Child Passenger Safety Restraints on School Buses National Training produced by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

NHTSA-certified instructors return to Reno for the STN EXPO next month to train school bus drivers and school bus monitors the steps necessary to properly install rear-facing, front-facing and safety-vest Child Safety Restraint Systems on a school bus seat, as well as coach the proper placement of a child in these systems.

The seminar teaches student transporters how to use integrated child seats, convertible seats and safety vests for children who weigh more than 20 pounds. The seminar will also instruct participants the proper positioning of retainer clips and belts.

In addition to classroom instruction, registered participants are also shown how to install Child Safety Restraint Systems, along with being given the opportunity to test their own skills.

Attendees who register for the July 23 seminar and complete the course will receive continuing education units (CEUs) from Safe Kids Worldwide.

This is a standalone event, which is separate from the regular STN EXPO Conference registration
