Experience Works N.J. Names First Student the Employer Champion of the Year

Award recognizes the company’s leadership and commitment to hiring and training older workers.

First Student, the largest provider of student transportation services in North America, was named Experience Works New Jersey’s Employer Champion of the Year during a ceremony Sept. 28. The company also received official commendations for its efforts from New Jersey Senators James Beach, Donald Norcross and Fred H. Madden, as well as Assemblyman Domenick DiCicco, Jr.

Experience Works is a national, charitable, community-based organization that helps older adults get the training they need to find good jobs in their communities. First Student’s long-standing relationship with the organization has led to the hiring of many drivers, monitors and office staff members seeking new careers after retirement.

“I commend Safety Coordinator Rick Mazzeo for his dedication to this project,” said First Student Lawnside Location Manager Jimmy Rogers. “He worked with a great team to implement new training and screening processes to ensure we were hiring the right individuals and providing the training they needed for a successful First Student career. We are very proud to have such a wonderful relationship with Experience Works.”
