Planet Halo Introduces HD Multi-Channel Video Recorder for School Buses

Planet Halo is introducing its production model PH4 vehicle recorder next week at the STN EXPO Conference and Trade Show in Reno, Nev. The system is designed specifically for buses and multi-passenger, for-hire vehicles.

The company calls its PH4 a unique recording device in that it incorporates two high-definition camera lenses, a GPS module, audio recorder, G-force inertial sensor, audio speaker, and mini-DVR with SD card all housed in a sleek design measuring only 4-inches long by 2.25-inches high by 1-inch deep. The device mounting bracket uses input jacks for the included external cameras, a remote video monitor, USB connectivity and the power connection.

Planet Halo said the PH4 captures video over the entire interior length of the passenger compartment and views from the driver’s perspective towards the front of the vehicle. The external cameras are designed to mount on the side of the vehicle and capture video alongside and towards the rear of the vehicle. These tear drop shaped external cameras are 2-inches long and weatherproof. A rear facing camera, the PH square, can also be affixed for a variety of purposes including use as a back-up camera or stop-arm monitor.

The sophisticated software included in the PH4 records and compiles video data from all four cameras, continuous GPS positioning, speed, G-force data, and programmed or triggered events and displays them all on a user friendly viewer. Management can now track their vehicle routes, speeds, stops and starts, driver and passenger behavior while viewing the actual video events as they occurred in high-definition color replay.

Planet Halo said its PH4 is the only fully contained multi-channel recorder on the market and does not need separate DVRs with cabled in cameras, external power supplies, separate GPS tracking devices or custom reporting software to compile data. The company said there are also no recurring monitoring fees and guarantees the PH4 be the most cost effective vehicle recorder in the market.

Planet Halo added that customers can own and control 100 percent of their video and data, which can be used in collision investigations, passenger or driver complaints, fleet monitoring, route economy and insurance compliance.

Editor’s note — Planet Halo will be at booth 218 for the STN Expo and will provide demonstrations on the PH4 capabilities and the fully functioning software tools that are included.
