High school freshmen on their way to visit to City Hall for a field trip were all unharmed after authorities evacuated their school bus following a bomb threat.

The Register-Mail reported that the Galesburg, Illinois, Police Department confirmed the threat made on Tuesday utlimately turned out to be false but that authorities took no chances. A police search of the bus uncovered no bomb or other suspicious items.

Lt. Russ Idle told reporters that the incident was still under investigation. The students safely continued their field trip Tuesday morning, he added.
