All First Student Kansas Locations Earn Perfect Scores on State Inspections

WICHITA, Kan. — All six First Student locations in Kansas received perfect scores of 100 percent on recent state inspections, demonstrating a commitment to ensuring that school buses remain the safest method for students to travel to and from school.

The Kansas Highway Patrol inspects school buses before the beginning of every new school year. Troopers check all mechanical equipment and safety features, to ensure that buses in the state are operating safely.

The First Student locations that received a perfect score are:

  • Coffeyville
  • De Soto
  • Gardner
  • Lawrence
  • Olathe
  • Wichita

First Student maintains and operates a fleet of nearly 1,100 buses in Kansas. The company’s six locations transport a total of more than 32,000 students in the state every school day.

“We recognize the importance of providing safe and reliable transportation,” said First Student Region Maintenance Manager David Weller. “Earning perfect scores on state inspections show the dedication of our location teams to the communities we serve. We are proud of our efforts and look forward to continuing our great record of service.”

First Student buses follow a strict daily, monthly and annual vehicle maintenance program. In addition, every driver uses the latest technology to conduct a multi-point inspection at the beginning and end of each route, to ensure that buses are operating at top conditions.
