Honeywell Appoints Scott Harkins to Lead Security Business in the Americas

MELVILLE, N.Y. — Honeywell (NYSE:HON) today announced that Scott Harkins has been appointed to lead Honeywell Security Group’s (HSG) products businesses in the Americas. Harkins will report directly to HSG President Ron Rothman, and will oversee the company’s intrusion, video and access systems divisions, which serve customers across North America, Latin America and the Caribbean. HSG’s customers include security dealers and integrators who serve residential end users, as well as government and commercial end users in a multitude of industries ranging from casinos and schools, to hospitals and utilities.

“Scott is a respected leader and his presence brings a continuity that will help keep Honeywell focused on its primary objective – developing and delivering high-quality security technology for our customers,” Rothman said. “Scott has broad experience in every facet of security – from intrusion to video to access control, and that will help us to further deliver on the real potential of systems integration.”

Harkins joined Honeywell in 1995. For the past three years, he has overseen the company’s video surveillance and access control divisions, where he was instrumental in introducing technology such as Honeywell’s MAXPRO® VMS (video management system) platform, NetAXS-123 scalable access control system, and the Honeywell Software Development Kit (HSDK) designed to simplify system integration. Under his direction, Honeywell also built a complete entry-level-to-enterprise-system portfolio of video and access solutions.

In his new role, Harkins will also manage Honeywell’s intrusion portfolio, which is the security industry’s largest and includes ADEMCO security systems, AlarmNet radio communications, Total Connect™ remote services and the First Alert Professional dealer program.

“We’ve seen dramatic shifts in security technology over the last few years that have greatly changed the way the industry does business,” Harkins said. “No other company has been a part of this industry longer, or has a wider technology portfolio than Honeywell. I’m looking forward to helping our company continue this legacy and providing the tools and resources our customers need to help drive this industry forward.”

In this role, Harkins replaces departing intrusion business leader JoAnna Sohovich, who decided to leave Honeywell to pursue other opportunities.
