M2K Seating Solutions and Takata Seat Belts received an honorable mention at the 2009 Automotive News PACE Awards in the domestic product innovation category for its school bus seat and seat belt design.
The companies operated by TK Holdings Inc. and subsidiaries of Takata Corporation were collectively one of six honorable mentions in its category during the annual competition held in Detroit on April 20 as judged by a panel of 21 independent automotive, manufacturing and operational experts. The M2K/Takata school bus seat with integrated lap/shoulder restraints for two or three passengers was selected by judges after the company entered the product for review.
The 15th annual PACE awards recognizing superior achievement, innovation and business performance were sponsored this year by Ernst & Young, the Transportation Research Center at Ohio State University and the Original Equipment Suppliers Association.
On March 4, M2K and Takata completed a 100-percent purchase of Syntec Seating Solutions from Tachi-S. TK Holdings earns more than $1.3 billion annually across its automotive safety systems lines, including seat belt systems and components, airbag modules, steering wheels and clock springs and land departure warning technological systems.
