ELYRIA, Ohio — Truck builder Navistar has named Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems, LLC. a Diamond Supplier for the second year in a row. The award recognizes Navistar’s top-performing suppliers for helping improve customer uptime and exceeding customer expectations for quality, delivery, technology, and cost. This year’s 34 Diamond Suppliers represent the top 2 percent of Navistar’s worldwide supply base. Navistar presented the Diamond Supplier award in a ceremony at Bendix headquarters today.
“Being named a Navistar Diamond Supplier two years running is a true point of pride for everyone here at Bendix. As Navistar expands the number of Bendix products available on its vehicles, we uphold our deep commitment to helping sustain their drive for maintaining customer focus, increasing uptime, fostering innovation, and delivering consistent high quality,” said Berend Bracht, president and CEO at Bendix. “Partnerships like the one we share are a key part of creating safer, more reliable trucks and buses – in turn, helping raise the bar for safety technology across the industry.”
Bendix, the North American leader in the development and manufacture of leading-edge active safety and braking system technologies for commercial vehicles, has a long relationship with Lisle, Illinois-based Navistar, providing a wide range of components and technologies for Navistar’s International trucks and IC Bus school and commercial buses.
Last fall, International Truck announced Bendix Wingman Advanced—A Collision Mitigation Technology as standard on its newly launched International LT Series on-highway Class 8 tractor, making it the first collision mitigation system to gain standard position in the North American commercial vehicle market. International also made Bendix Wingman Fusion—Bendix’s flagship driver assistance system—which is available as an upgrade on the LT Series vehicles.
In addition, International made a range of non-wheel-end Bendix products standard on its entire lineup of Class 5-8 air-braked tractor, truck, and bus platforms in 2016, while adding Bendix’s complete wheel-end package on a range of medium- and heavy-duty trucks and IC-branded buses.
“We appreciate the value created for Navistar customers through the long-term relationships we have with our suppliers,” said David McKean, vice president, Procurement, Navistar. “Quality, technology, and innovation are cornerstones of Navistar’s success that enable the company to deliver outstanding products and services to our customers worldwide. The Diamond Supplier Award recognizes our valued partnership with our suppliers in these key areas, which help us achieve optimal uptime for our customers.”
Bendix’s complete lineup of products delivers on safety, reliability, and other areas critical to fleets’ success. By improving vehicle performance and efficiency and providing unparalleled post-sales support, Bendix aims to strengthen returns on investment in equipment and technology, helping fleets and drivers lower their total costs of vehicle ownership, and enhancing roadway safety.
