Trans/Air Announces Three New Air Conditioning Products

Trans/Air Manufacturing, Dallastown, Pa.-based manufacturer of transportation climate control systems, is pleased to announce the introduction of a new state-of-the-art micro-channel condenser, the world’s lightest roof-mounted air conditioning unit and a new roof-mounted condenser.

The new state-of-the-art micro-channel SMC3L condenser is the latest technology of all-aluminum parallel flow condenser coils paired with high-efficiency low amperage draw condenser fans. In a comparison against a standard SMC3L, the new design offers a 9% increase in capacity, while at the same time weighs less and consumes less charge in the same size envelope. Less weight, lower refrigerant charge, and more capacity in a smaller envelope is truly a unique design. The SMC3L is the first in a series of new products which will include the SMC2S, SC3, and SC4 skirt mounted condensers.

The UL Series rooftop air conditioning system is designed specifically for use in heavy-duty transit applications. The innovative design utilizes a modular concept which is low in materials and manufacturing cost. The chassis design utilizes advanced recyclable materials which are lightweight for reduced fuel consumption, and when combined with aluminum components, result in an overall weight reduction of 30% compared to conventionally designed air conditioning units. The high performance materials reduce noise emission for passenger comfort and provide an insulating factor for enhanced system performance.

The UL500, 700, 800, 900 Conventional Series is designed to operate with a heavy duty transit type compressor. The UL500 is available with a hermetic compressor for use on electric/hybrid vehicles. All UL products are designed to work with either high efficiency R134a or optional environmentally friendly CO2 refrigerant (R744).

The RTC-120 roof mounted condenser, rated at 120,000 BTU/hr, is designed for severe
duty transit applications or where skirt space is limited or unavailable. The lightweight,
high capacity condenser provides for ease of installation, economical operation, and
maximum serviceability. The design utilizes (6) high capacity fans for maximum air flow, an attractive ABS or durable powder coated metal cover (shown) and operates with the latest in microchannel coil technology. Less weight, lower refrigerant charge, and more capacity in a smaller envelope is truly a unique design. The RTC-120 is the first in a series of new products which will include the RTC-60 (60,000 BTU/hr) and the RTC-180 (180,000 BTU/hr) rooftop condensers, which are slated for introduction in 2009.
