Blue Bird Recalls Three Models to Bring Seat Barriers into Compliance with FMVSS 222

Blue Bird Corporation announced it will recall some two-passenger seats installed forward of the 39-inch barrier.

The NHTSA report centers on model year 2006 through 2012 Type D transit-style All American school buses as well as model-year 2006 Type C conventional Visions manufactured between Sept. 19, 2005 and May 3 of this year. In the event of a crash, the seat barriers in these buses may make contact with the two-passenger seat installed forward of the barrier, which fails to conform with FMVSS 222 on school bus passenger seating and protection.

Blue Bird said by the end of November it will notify owners of these buses that dealers will perform the repairs free of charge.
