Cummins, Agility Partner for Greener NGV Transportation

Agility Fuel Systems, producer of natural gas fuel storage and delivery systems for heavy-duty trucks and buses, announced a partnership with Cummins Inc. to drive the adoption of natural gas for the heavy-duty truck and bus markets as well as improve the natural gas vehicle user experience.

The announcement was made at the Alternative Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo in Dallas. The partnership includes the development of technology and integration of software and hardware between natural gas engines and the onboard fuel storage and delivery system in order to improve performance. Both companies will also integrate their sales and aftermarket support and distribution networks. The companies said customers will soon be able to service and replace parts for their natural gas-powered vehicles at authorized Cummins distributor and OEM truck dealer locations.

release“Our goal has always been to deliver a diesel-like experience to the end user, making natural gas-powered vehicles as easy to operate and service as diesel vehicles. This partnership with Cummins is a key enabler. By co-developing differentiated and improved natural gas solutions, and utilizing the breadth of Cummins service network, we believe we can accelerate the adoption of natural gas as a fuel for more vehicles, including heavy duty trucks,” said Barry Engle, CEO of Agility.

“Cummins and Agility are committed to bringing an enhanced experience to customers across North America,” said Roe East, general manager of the Cummins On-Highway Natural Gas Business. “We are excited to partner with Agility, and leverage our strengths and expertise to provide even more value to our natural gas customers.”

The ACT Expo focuses on sustainable transportation. One of the educational sessions of the conference will be about how the Dallas County Schools district has saved over $1 million per year by using alternative fuel school buses.

Editor’s Note: School Transportation News is an official media sponsor of the 2015 ACT EXPO and will produce its own one-day symposium on alternative fuels and clean energy funding and implementation, the Green Bus Summit, on July 29 in Reno, Nevada.
