A seven-year Canadian school bus driver received the Ontario School Bus Association’s (OSBA) inaugural Driver Excellence Award for 2011.
Frank Wilson, a school bus driver with Avonmore, Ontario-based Delaney Bus Lines, was honored with the award at the Ontario Association of School Business Officials (OASBO)/OSBA fall conference. The OSBA launched the new awards program last year as part of the association’s 60th anniversary and its initiatives moving forward.
“A new program was launched to recognize individuals, companies and organizations that have made significant contributions towards the school bus and student transportation industries,” the association said in a statement.
The OSBA board of directors chose Wilson for going above and beyond in everything he does for the company and for the students.
“Recognition by the OSBA is a wonderful initiative and really emphasizes the important jobs our school bus drivers do each and every day,” said Mark Begg, manager with Delaney Bus Lines.
Prior to Delaney Bus Lines, Wilson worked at Cornwall City Transit for 13 years. The Montreal Canadiens fan is married with three children and three grandchildren.
Delaney Bus Lines has been in operation since 1948 and offers school, charter and commuter transportation. Its school bus transportation division buses approximately 1,600 students on a daily basis to and from school.
