Durham Acquires N.Y. Transportation Company

School bus contractor Durham School Services recently acquired Folmsbee’s Transportation Inc., a company based in Waterford, New York.

Durham will now operate transportation services for just under a dozen districts in the are including:

  • Waterford-Halfmoon Union Free School District
  • Green Island Union Free School District
  • Menands School District
  • Putnam County School District
  • Doane Stuart School
  • Watervliet City Schools
  • Lansinburgh Central School District

Durham said the deal adds 130 employees to the national school bus contrator, and the company is looking to hire about another dozen drivers.

“We are working diligently towards a seamless and successful transition,” said Kim Worster, chief operating officer for Durham School Services.  “Preparations are already underway to ensure a safe and smooth operation for the upcoming school year and we look forward to providing our new customers with the safe and reliable service for which we are known.”

said David A. Duke, CEO of National Express LLC, the parent company of Durham School Services, said the company is looking forward to expanding its business in New York’s capital region.

“With locations in nearby Albany, Troy and Schenectady, we already enjoy a strong presence in eastern New York,” he added.
