First Student Quebec Operation Expands With Latest Acquisition

First Student announced Autobus Transco, a wholly owned subsidiary based in Montreal, has acquired Transport St. Leonard for $8.5 million.

The deal effective Jan. 9 means Autobus Transco adds 150 school buses to its area operations. The company increased its fleet size to 400 total school buses. Transport St. Leonard operates

“We are pleased to become a part of the Anjou community (of Montreal),” said Michel Larocque, general manager for First Student Eastern Canada. “We plan to make this transition process smooth for our students and employees. Autobus Transco is committed to providing safe and reliable student transportation services and looks forward to a successful relationship with the school district.”

A First Student spokesperson said Autobus Transco offered positions to all exisiting Transport St. Leonard drivers to make the transition more seamless because of their knowledge of the area, customer, routes and students. Those who accept the offer will participate in 20 hours of classroom and behind-the-wheel training, which includes education on such topics as student behavioral management and bus safety.
