Flach Named President of Contractor Landmark Student Transportation

Kirk Flach has been tapped as the new president of Landmark Student Transportation, a small school bus contractor company formed last year to serve the Ontario, Canada region with sights set on expansion throughout North America.

“The mission and values of Landmark are aligned with my own beliefs of what makes a school bus operation successful,” said Flach, on the company’s mission to offer mid-size contractor expertise with the customer service of a small, privately-held firm. “I’m looking forward to working with the Landmark team to build an organization that is focused on people.

“Landmark’s structure will allow me to be actively engaged with both our employees and our customers.”

Flach was formerly the senior vice president of operations for National Express Corporation, where he specifically oversaw Stock Transportation in Canada and Durham School Services in the eastern U.S.

“Kirk is a great addition to our team,” said Barry Stock, one of the principals and founders of Landmark. “With his knowledge of the industry, his past experience and his leadership qualities, Kirk is the right person to guide the development of our business in North America.”

Flach was an associate of Stock at National Express, which acquired Stock’s family-run contractor company in 2002. Stock, a past president of NSTA, retired from National Express in June 2010 as executive vice president of business development.

Flach started his career with Laidlaw Passenger Services in 1995 before joining Stock Transportation in 2000. Flach is also a former Ontario School Bus Association board member and served as OSBA vice president and president. He received the NSTA Golden Merit Award in 2010 in recognition of achievements in safety, business practice and service to schools and local communities.
