The Indiana State School Bus Drivers Association announced it awarded a $500 college scholarship to Corbin Sollman of Haubstadt, Ind. Corbin is the son of member Nikki Sollman.
Corbin will graduate in May from Gibson Southern High School, located near Fort Branch, Ind. The association said Corbin is ranked in the top 10 percent of his class. He was awarded the 2011 Public Speaking FFA Creed award, the South Gibson School Corporation academic excellence for 12 years and is a member of the high school Beta Club, an honor society for students with high academic achievements and leadership talents. He also received the FFA distinguished member award for four years.
The Indiana association also said Corbin’s extracurricular activities and community service include FFA, where he served as chapter treasurer and he also assisted with the building of a wheelchair ramp for a disabled person the community and also served as an acolyte at his church. Corbin’s future plans are to attend the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville to study engineering.
The Indiana State School Bus Drivers Association is comprised of certified school bus drivers throughout the state of Indiana and annually awards a $500.00 scholarship to a members child or grandchild.
