NAPT Announces Inaugural ‘Rubin Awards’ This Fall in Honor of Industry Iron Man

The National Association for Pupil Transportation will recognize “the continuous commitment and support” of business partners at the NAPT Trade Show on Nov. 11 with the first-ever Rubin Awards, named after Bob Rubin who retired last year from Easy Way Safety Services after 45 years in the industry.

Dwight Gleaves, NAPT’s affiliate member director, notified the association’s business partners of the new award by email. He said the Rubin Awards will honor the companies with “the longest tenure of continuous attendance” at the now-named NAPT Summit. The event is scheduled for Kansas City, starting on Nov. 8 and concluding the same day as the trade show.

Rubin attended 39 consecutive NAPT conferences during his tenure. Gleaves said the awards were created in recognition of Rubins’ “amazing commitment and dedication to NAPT.” Gleaves also referred to Rubins as NAPT’s “eternal ambassador.”

While criteria for nonimations were not outlined, Gleaves said business partners can contact NAPT’s Janna Smeltzer to confirm eligibility.

At the NAPT Summit in Grand Rapids, Mich., last fall the association honored Rubin with a special award of recognition after he announced his retirement in May. NASDPTS also recognized Rubin with a Suppliers Council award during its annual meeting there.
