The National School Transportation Association (NSTA) announced it recently appointed First Student President Dennis Maple to its board of directors.
In this position, Maple will assist the school bus contractors organization in finding opportunities to bring more resources to school transportation professionals to continually improve school bus safety, affordability and efficiency.
Maple stepped into the role of First Student president in January, replacing Linda Burtwistle, who informed the company several months prior she would step down. Most recently he was president of Aramark Education.
As president of First Student, Maple oversees the safe and secure operation of more than 54,000 yellow school buses across North America.
“The safety of our nation’s schoolchildren is my top priority,” said Maple. “It is a tremendous honor to serve on the board of directors for the National School Transportation Association. I look forward to sharing my ideas and helping to develop practices which will benefit schools and students across the United States.”
NSTA is the only national organization that represents the interests and concerns of private school transportation contractors.
