The National School Transportation Association announced the winners of its annual School Bus Driver International Safety Competition this past weekend, with one winner making a second appearance at the top of the list.
The winners of the annual event were awarded Sunday evening at a dinner and awards ceremony sponsored by IC Bus. The winners included:
Conventional Winners
- Larry Hannon – Centennial (Pa.) School District
- Brent Carmen – Morgan Hill (Calif.) United School District
- Mark Koelbl – First Student, Alberta, Canada
Transit Winners
- Mark Miller – Bellingham (Wash.) Public Schools
- John J. Welsh – Lower Marion (Pa.) School District
- Jesse Hill – Academy School District #20, Colorado Springs, Colo.
Small Bus Winners
- Russell Altizer – Montgomery County (Va.) Public Schools
- James McMinn – First Student, Kansas
- Karen Schoonover – Mountain Valley (Va.) Transportation
Miller is once again topping the list this year, also taking top honors at the 2010 competition. Meanwhile, Hannon recorded his eighth overall roadeo win. NSTA thanked all the drivers who competed, as well as the NSTA officers, board members, and volunteers “who helped make the competition a success.”
