Paccar Parts announced that its state-of-the-art parts distribution center in Renton, Washington, is now fully operational and will increase service for the Northwestern U.S. and western Canada.
A company spokeswoman confirmed the energy-efficient, 160,000-square-foot facility also serves TRP Bus Parts.
The new parts distribution center replaces an original facility constructed in 1973 and it “represents the new standard for PACCAR Parts distribution centers by incorporating strategic design, innovative technology and sustainability,” Paccar Parts said in a statement Wednesday.
The PDC includes a 15,000 square-foot, small-parts mezzanine and state-of-the-art equipment, such as stock-picking equipment with built-in weight scales and a custom parcel conveyor. All this goes toward providing operational efficiency and a 125-percent increase in capacity of parts, enabling it to store over 39,000 different parts, the company added. The energy efficient systems include LED lighting and daylight harvesting.
“We designed every aspect of the PDC to create a logical efficient work flow. From the ‘pick path’ to the unique stocking fixtures, efficiency and accuracy measures have been taken at every point to streamline customer orders and ensure quick turnaround times,” said Laura Bloch, PACCAR Parts assistant general manager of operations.
The PDC also includes a 50-person training room and a 3-D, interactive “PACCAR Parts Experience” that the company said demonstrates to visitors its world-wide distribution network as well as products and services.
