Starcraft Bus announced a recall campaign that covers some of the company’s 2010-2011 model-year Prodigy and Quest buses to repair the seats.
The NHTSA recall affects a total of 22 Prodigy and Quest school buses manufactured from Oct. 11, 2010 through Jan. 3, 2011 that are equipped with bus seats manufactured by C.E. White. Starcraft said the seat backs may fail in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury to the seat’s occupant.
As a result, the seats do not conform to the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 222, “School Bus Passenger Seating and Crash Protection.”
Starcraft is expected to notify owners that dealers will install a reinforcing bracket approved by C.E. White. Starcraft had not provided a remedy schedule at this writing.
