With winter temperatures falling into the bitter category, energy becomes a high priority. As 2016 hits the ground running, one energy source is hitting record lows in prices: Propane.
On top of the price of propane being the cheapest it has been in a decade, instability in the Middle East has made it difficult to budget for diesel or gasoline and propane inventories are more than 27 percent higher than this time last year.
Additionally, the federal government recently passed a tax extenders package that provides incentives for employing alternative fuels.
These incentives include, a $.50 per gallon excise tax credit for 2015; a $0.36 per gallon excise tax credit for 2016; and a fueling infrastructure credit for up to 30 percent of installation costs if the price tag does not exceed $30,000. Legislation extended the credits through Dec. 31, 2016.
Due to these mitigating circumstances, ROUSH CleanTech said it believes this is the perfect time for school districts countrywide to consider propane autogas as a fuel alternative for their bus fleet.
“Based on today’s prices and legislation, now is the time to join over 500 school districts nationwide, as well as top companies like DIRECTV, UPS, FedEx and many more, who are already experiencing the benefits of propane autogas,” said Todd Mouw, vice president of Sales and Marketing for ROUSH CleanTech.
