Safe Fleet, provider of safety solution, has launched “United Against Bullying,” a grant program and art contest to support schools and communities in combating bullying.
“As a company committed to providing safety solutions, we want to be proactive in addressing bullying,” said John R. Knox, president and CEO of Safe Fleet. “By engaging all our subsidiaries in the “United Against Bullying” program, we will offer expanded support to communities across North America in their efforts to create safe and respectful environments for children.”
Safe Fleet will start up a coloring contest and grant as part of the program. The $25,000 grant will help winning student transportation departments to develop or expand anti-bullying programs. Another grant will offer $25,000 worth of school bus equipment, such as video cameras, stop arms, crossing arms and escape hatches. Applications for each grant will be accepted between Aug. 1 and Oct. 31, 2015.
The two-part coloring contest will be open to students in all school districts in the United States and Canada. In part one, contestants will draw an outline based on an anti-bullying topic. This phase of the contest will be open from Aug. 15 to Sept. 15. For part two, participants will color the winning outline, open in October, which is also National Bullying Prevention Month.
Inspiration for the program came after Seon, a subsidiary of Safe Fleet, launched the “No Bullies on My Bus” campaign in 2013, which helped spread awareness about the issue. After seeing the positive response, Safe Fleet its other subsidiaries decided to build upon this and expand the campaign.
“Our employees are honored to contribute their time and resources to support anti-bullying initiatives in communities across North America,” said Bob Parks, vice president of human services at Safe Fleet. “United by this important mission, we can achieve lasting results in empowering young people and putting an end to bullying across the country.”
