School Bus Contractor Krapf Partners with Department Store to Donate Cell Phones to Charity

School bus contractor Krapf Bus Companies made good out of some of its older assets by donating more than 200 cell phones to the 911 Cell Phone Bank, a group that provides cell phones to seniors and victims of abuse.

West Chester, Pa.-based Krapf Bus Companies searched for an organization that would put the company’s previous phones to good use after the company updated its cellular network. It decided to donate the phones to the 911 Cell Phone Bank after the company learned that a current partner — Boscov’s, a department store chain in the Mid-Atlantic region — would accept the phones and forward them to the phone bank.

The 911 Cell Phone Bank facilitates cell phone donations and offers them as emergency cell phones for law enforcement agencies and affiliated victims services agencies nationwide. The group is an initiative of The Charitable Recycling Foundation, an organization dedicated to converting idle assets, like cell phones, for use toward the public good.

“We are very pleased that we were able to donate these phones to an organization that will recycle and repurpose the phones, helping victims’ services organizations and law enforcement nationwide.  We are also most appreciative of the assistance and cooperation of the Boscov’s Organization in assisting us in getting the phones to the 911 Cell Phone Bank,” said a Krapf spokesperson.
