School Bus Safety Company Creates 5 New PSAs on Safety at Stops

In partnership with the Children’s Safety Network Safe Bus program, training provider the School Bus Safety Company posted five, free videos on its home page designed to educate the public on laws that prohibit passing a stopped school bus that is loading or unloading students.

Each clip is approximately 30 seconds long. Jeff Cassell, president of SBSC and the former vice president of risk management for Laidlaw Education Services, said he is hoping to attract national television networks to air the videos during School Bus Safety Week, which is held Oct. 21-25. Additionally, Cassell said his company is emailing the PSAs to more than 5,000 school districts nationwide and asking them to share with local media.

School Bus Safety Company produced the dramatic videos as part of its “Twelve to Zero” program, which focuses on reducing the number of reported student fatalities at school bus stops nationwide.

Cassell told STN he wrote the scripts himself, and the company filmed the spots in two days near its headquarters in Hudson, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland.
