School Bus Safety Company, NAPT Past-President Bluth Announce Partnership

Dr. Linda F. Bluth, the immediate past-president of the National Association for Pupil Transportation, is endorsing the suite of training modules created by the School Bus Safety Company (SBSC).

A company representative confirmed that Bluth, who is also a monitoring and quality assurance specialist with the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE), will assist in marketing the four products. School Bus Safety Company provides interactive DVD and workbook courses on driver training, transporting students with disabilities, bullying prevention and, most recently, OSHA compliance. Bluth also will assist in on-site training as she is available.

Bluth said she is endorsing SBSC’s training products because the best way to improve the quality and safety of student transportation is by providing better training for drivers and attendants via modern learning techniques.

“Having finished my term as president of NAPT, I plan to stay at the forefront of the school bus industry, where I can add the most value. I am excited by the quality and content of the programs created by SBSC,” said Bluth in a statement.  “I want to make a difference in the appropriate and safe transportation of students, and partnering with SBSC is an excellent opportunity for me to do this.”

Jeff Cassell, president of SBSC, said the training modules are now being used by six of the eight largest school bus contracotrs and by more than 690 school districts nationwide.

“Dr. Bluth is now available to train-the-trainers on how best to deliver these courses, or to train the drivers directly. The goal is outcome oriented. We need to improve the safe behaviors of the drivers and no one is better than Dr. Bluth to ensure this is achieved,” he added.

Bluth has 47 years of experience as a special educator, including 32 years in special needs transportation. In addition to her work at MSDE, She interned at the U.S. Department of Education and has been a university professor, school system administrator and a policy specialist in the Maryland Governor’s Office for Children Youth and Families.

School Bus Safety Company is one of six NAPT Recommended Products, which are approved by the association’s board.
