Donald Tudor, the state director of school transportation at the South Carolina Department of Education for the past 20 years, emailed contacts in industry that he is retiring to form his own consultant company.
Tudor said the past two decades “have been a blessing for me, giving me purpose and mission in life.”
“I recently participated in a medical test and noticed that my blood was still red. What a surprise. I was sure it was yellow; it sure feels like it in my soul,” he added. “The impact of this 20-year experience has so implanted its mission in me that I do not plan to totally hang up my participation in student transportation.”
He said will remain affiliated with the industry by forming Donald Tudor Services, LLC with the hope of offering consulting services to school districts.
Tudor also announced that Tim Camp will succeed him as state director as of Oct. 1. Camp has worked in the Department of Education’s Office of Transportation for the past seven years as a county supervisor and area supervisor. Tudor said both Camp and Kim Aydlette, the new deputy superintendent over the Office of Transportation, will attend the NASDPTS and the NAPT annual meetings in Cincinnati, Oct. 20 through Oct. 27.
