School Transportation News named Allan J. Jones representing the state of Washington and Donnel Rosenthal from Montana to assist with the execution of this summer’s North American School Bus EXPO in Reno, Nevada.
Jones is the director of student transportation for the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) in Washington State. He has worked in the pupil transportation industry since 1977, staring his career as a school bus driver. He joined OSPI in 1998 as the program supervisor and was named director in January 2002.
Rosenthal has been employed at the Montana Office of Public Instruction since February 2005. In March 2012, she accepted the position as the state director of pupil transportation. She will also represent the National Association of State Directors of Pupil Transportation Services at the STN EXPO as director of the Western Region, which encompasses 13 states.
Jones said he is looking forward to getting away from his office phone to attend the STN EXPO this summer, and he encouraged others to do the same.
“STN EXPO is the premier summertime student transportation conference,” he added. “The EXPO provides outstanding workshops and a great trade show. In addition, the mid-summer schedule means it is a more accessible venue for professional development and networking for many school district employees.”
The STN EXPO workshops begin Saturday, July 23 and the event concludes on Wednesday, July 27 with an inaugural Ride ‘N Drive opportunity. A six-hour industry trade show will be held a day prior on July 26, followed by the return of the STN EXPO Networking Extravaganza.
