Thomas Built Buses Sponsors NASCAR Driver in Toyota Owners 400

For a century, Thomas Built Buses has been a mainstay in the school bus industry. It recently expand into the world of NASCAR, sponsoring a driver in the Toyota Owners 400 at the Richmond International Raceway last Sunday.

In celebration of Thomas Built Buses’ 100-year anniversary, the company sponsored Brad Keselowski, who drove the No. 2 Thomas Built Buses Ford Fusion.

As part of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, the Toyota Owners 400 marked the first appearance of Thomas Built Buses in stock-car racing.

Keselowski, who is a member of Team Penske, vied to unseat defending winner Kurt Busch (No. 41) of Stewart-Haas Racing, who has dominated the raceway in five of the last seven races. The 32-year-old Keselowski had 300 miles to oust Busch from the top spot.

While the competition was tight, Keselowski was unable to upset Busch; however, neither finished the race at the head of the pack. Keselowski concluded the Toyota Owners 400 trailing close behind Busch in the eleventh position, while Busch closed out in tenth.

Caley Edgerly, president and CEO of Thomas Built Buses, noted that dealers and employees alike are thrilled to see the company represented in the race, and he hopes that “this race will be something to remember for our customers and the children who ride our buses every day.”

“We are pleased to have a presence at one of Brad’s races this year and to share our 100th anniversary with Keselowski fans,” he said.

The Friday before the race, a Thomas Built Buses Saf-T-Liner C2 CNG school bus driven by a Keselowski treated a group of 50 students to a lap around the Richmond International Raceway.
