Trans Tech Bus Recall to Adress Seat Cushion Self-Latching Mechanism

Trans Tech Bus announced it is recalling 333 Type A small school buses to repair self-latching mechanisms used to retain the seat cushions to the frame may not activate and, as a result, fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS).

Forty different models ranging from model year 2009 through 2011 are affected. The full list of models is listed in the FMVSS recall notice.

The buses were manufactured from May 2010 through July 2011 and are equipped with C.E. White school bus bench seats. Self-latching mechanisms for seat cushions must meet FMVSS 222 on “School Bus Passenger Seating and Crash Protection.” The failure of the seat cushion to fully latch to the seat frame could cause the seat to flip up during a crash.

Trans Tech Bus said it will notify owners this month of the repairs that will be made free of charge by local dealers.
