Website Provides State VW Settlement Beneficiary Contacts

An online resource launched earlier this month provides details on local state agencies taking the lead on funding programs that are available from the $3 billion VW Mitigation Trust Fund.

The National Association of Clean Air Agencies (NACAA) lists updated information for the 50 states and the District of Columbia. All but 14 states were updated on the site as of Sept. 20 with state contacts and links to their plans for receiving their share of funds, which can cover up to 100 percent of eligible vehicle or engine costs.

The website also indicates when and how school districts, private contractors or other governmental agencies can apply for funds to reduce school bus emissions. Eligible projects include the purchase of new clean diesel or alternative-fuel school buses, but each state as the freedom to prioritize if all or some cleaner-fuel vehicle projects, or one in particular, will be funded.

Additionally, NACAA partnered with the National Association of State Energy Officials to publish an online clearinghouse that provides general information about the settlement funds.
