The Lead–Deadwood School District in South Dakota is dealing with a staffing issue as many of its drivers retire, reported KOTA news, and replacements are hard to come by.
According to the district, even pay raises have not been enough to recruit new drivers.
“This is not a unique problem to our school district, it’s very difficult to find bus drivers nationwide, I think our problem lies in somewhat our shrinking population,” district maintenance supervisor Wayne Karpinen said.
