Officer Recovering From Injuries After Crash With Bus

FOX 4 reported that a police chase in the Kansas City area caused major problems after an officer slammed his cruiser into a school bus. The officer is expected to recover from head injuries sustained in the crash, authorities reporting he has a possible concussion as a result.

“He was on his way to assist other officers with a car chase in the area. He was operating with lights and siren,” said Sergeant Bill Mahoney.

The officer collided with the school bus carrying nine small kids and two adults. His police car ended up on it’s roof. No one on the school bus is injured.

“All of the sudden I heard a boom and then I immediately heard all of these police vehicles and emergency vehicles,” said Marcia Dale.

She’s the office manager at Unity of Kansas City North Church, where the chase turned a mundane afternoon into quite a melee in a church parking lot.

“We went out and looked, and I mean there was just vehicle after vehicle from the Missouri Highway Patrol, Clay County, KCPD everybody was piling in there,” Dale said.
