The parents of a 6-year-old Pennsylvania boy say their son was bullied on the school bus, but authorities have found no evidence to support the accusation, according to local news reports.
CBS Pittsburgh reported that Roman DiMeglio came home last week with swelling and scratches on his face; bruising was later discovered on his body by the boy’s doctor. Roman told his parents that he was beaten up on the school bus on the way home from school, Allison Park Elementary in the Chartiers-Houston School District.
The DiMeglios told CBS Pittsburgh that they watched video footage from the bus with the vice principal. According to them, that bus video shows their son getting attacked by a boy and girl. They said Roman was calling for help but neither the driver nor the two other adults on the bus responded. The parents said they are talking to attorneys about their legal options.
However, Pittsburgh news channel WPXI was told by law enforcement that the video in question shows no such instance of violence.
The Observer-Reporter reported that Gene Vittone, district attorney for Washington County where the child’s school is located, agreed. “I looked at the video today. It’s a really clear video. It does not show any type of assault. I don’t know where this is coming from,” Vittone stated.
Police and child services are continuing their investigation, the DA said.
