First Student Utah Location Earns Another Perfect Score on Fleet Inspections

OGDEN, Utah — For the second year in a row, the First Student location in Ogden, Utah, has been recognized for maintaining its buses to the highest standards. The location achieved a perfect score of 100 percent on its two Utah Highway Patrol (UHP) fleet inspections for 2017.

UHP conducts annual inspections on school buses each spring and fall. Troopers check all mechanical aspects and safety features to ensure school buses are operating at top conditions. First Student received a perfect score on both UHP inspections this year.

“Our maintenance standards are among the most stringent in the industry,” said Jared Bond, First Student Ogden location manager. “Receiving a perfect score on our fleet inspections year after year shows the dedication of our team to the families in the Ogden community who rely on us to provide safe, reliable transportation.”

The location uses a fleet of more than 40 buses to transport approximately 2,000 Ogden School District students each school day. It is the only fleet of school buses in the state of Utah to be equipped with crossing gates to allow children to cross in front of the bus at a safe distance.

Each of the 44,000 buses in the First Student fleet follows a strict daily, monthly and annual vehicle maintenance program. Every driver also uses the latest technology to conduct a multi-point inspection at the beginning and end of each route to help deliver a ride that is twice as safe as the industry average.

The First Student Ogden location also received a perfect score of 100 percent on its two Utah Highway Patrol fleet inspections in 2016.
